Abigail Hykin is Conservator of Objects at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Besides work on Della Robbia sculpture, her recent projects have included the treatment of a 12th century Chinese sculpture, Guanyin, Bodhisattva of Compassion and Nishida Jun’s massive ceramic Zetsu No. 8. From 2000-2014, she was Associate Objects Conservator dedicated to the MFA’s sister museum, the Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts. She has been lead conservator for numerous MFA projects and travelling exhibitions including: Della Robbia: Sculpting with Color in Renaissance Florence (2016); Aphrodite and the Gods of Love (2011); Donatello to Giambologna: Italian Renaissance Sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2007) and Games for the Gods: the Greek Athlete and the Olympic Games (2004). From 1995-2000, Abby was Assistant Conservator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the J. Paul Getty Museum. She graduated from the Buffalo State College Art Conservation program in 1992 and had additional internships at the Asian Art Museum and Harvard University Art Museums Center for Conservation and Technical Studies.
