Dr. Dan Boye, Professor of Physics at Davidson College, has almost 30 years experience in physics research and education. Fundamental research areas include optical properties of insulating crystals, glasses and nano-materials doped with rare earth and transition metal ions, energy transfer, coherent transients. Applied research efforts include 2D and volumetric x-ray examination of art, archaeological artifacts among a wide range of other applications. He is a professional bass-baritone who has performed with orchestras and opera companies throughout the US. Dr. Boye is a member of the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, the American Society for Non-destructive Testing and AIC.
