This session will be a discussion about cleaning techniques for textiles. The discussion will include techniques that might be used during emergency recovery as well as those that are more likely to be used for damaged textiles in post-recovery, conservation studio treatments. Can response/recovery techniques diminish the formation of stains in a water emergency? What if post-recovery period treatment is postponed…. maybe for years!? Will stains become more difficult to treat or even permanent? What are the differences between emergency recovery treatments and non-emergency textile treatments? If we have a choice, what are the best absorbent materials? What else? Please bring your experience and questions to this discussion.
