Pierre Barbarie is the Director-Campus Public Safety. He has held various positions since his career began at McGill University in September 2000, ranging from Supervisor, to Operations Manager-Security Services, to Associate Director-University Safety to his present position.

Pierre is a graduate of l’Université de Montréal in Security & Police Management. He also attended Quebec’s Police Academy in 1992.

Pierre has received training in relation to Unified Command, Threat Assessment, Contingency & Disaster Planning, Incident Command and Active Shooter situations.
He was McGill’s first certified “Non Violent Crisis Intervention” instructor from 2003 to 2007 receiving his certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and the International Association of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certified Instructors.

He is a member of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and served on its board for 6 years as the Canadian Director. He is also an active member of the Ontario Association of College & University Security Administrators (OACUSA) as an out of province delegate.
