Tomoko Yasuda is a paper conservator and a director at Tokyo Restoration & Conservation Center which is a for-profit studio, specializing in paper mass conservation. She studied restoration and conservation at Tohoku University of Art and Design in Japan and also at the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage. Her interest in disaster preparedness grew in 2004 when she translated the Emergency Response and Salvage Wheel and coordinated publication of its Japanese version. She gave a poster presentation on disaster preparedness at The Japan Society for the Conservation of Cultural Property conferences, helped assess the paper artifacts damaged by the 2011 Earthquake, and advocated mass-treatment approaches for large scale disasters.
