Stacey M. Kelly is the Director of Collections and Conservator at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA). She has held positions in various cultural institutions including the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, the Glucksman Conservation Center at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, and Alnwick Castle, Northumberland, England.
Ms. Kelly received her M.A. degree with Distinction in Conservation of Fine Art, with a focus on works of art on paper from Northumbria University in the UK. She is a Professional Associate member of the American Institute for Conservation, and a member of the Western Association of Art Conservators.
In her current role at the UMFA, Ms. Kelly’s primary focus is the long-term care and preservation of the museum’s nearly 23,000 objects, with special attention to the 10,000+ works on paper. She also manages the Registration and Preparations teams, oversees all exhibition installation, and directs long term strategic planning for the Collection.
Ms. Kelly has treated numerous works of art by major artists, as well as important historical documents. Among them are works by Mary Cassatt, John James Audubon, William Henry Jackson, Charles Russell, illuminated manuscripts from Europe and the Islamic World, a page from the original manuscript of the Book of Mormon, and the Idaho State Constitution.
